Context (Analysis)
At time of original computer transcription there were two catalogue cards giving the name ' Day' as the collector of an item in 1883. However, there was a discrepancy between the initials, with one card reading ' H.G.Day', the other ' H.C.Day' . Our researches established only that there was a Rev.A.G. Day who was a member of Caius College (see List of the Members of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society for May, 1884). For the purposes of easier computer retrieval, the name of this collector has been provisionally settled as ' Day.H.C' this however can in no way be taken as definitive.
[Note: In the Report of the 17th General Meeting of the CAS (1857) his name is stated as being H.C. Day. 3/10/1988 Nigel Holman]
