Context (CMS Context)
This CMS record appears to have been created by transcribing the catalogue card for 1908.221 - which it perfectly matches and was transcribed on the same day - but mistakenly giving the idno as 1908.203. This latter object is a flake knife from Undley Fen, which has no CMS record. Therefore, the idno on this record has been changed to 1908.221 and a record created for 1908.203. 16/7/2014 I.Gunn

Context (CMS Context)
Although a catalogue card exists for 1908.221 which correctly describes the small pointed handaxe marked with '1908.221', it does not actually match the accession register entry for 1908.221 (apart from coming from Kennett). It appears that, when catalogue cards were created for this year, the original 1908.221 was amalgamated into 1908.222 (so that it covered two objects) and a catalogue card was created to describe the small handaxe now assigned '1908.221'. To clarify this situation, the following steps have been taken: the suffix /Record 2 has been added to this record, to distinguish it from the original 1908.221; a new record has been created for 1908.221/Record 1 and its description removed from 1908.222, in order to accurately reflect the 1908 accession register; a note has been added to 1908.222 explaining this. Hopefully the correct accession number for this handaxe will be identified in the future.
