Description

Very large and heavy Thetford ware storage jar. It has everted rim; round body, only the upper part of it exists; and eleven handles arranged in two rows: first row has seven handles from rim to body, second row has four handles from neck to body. Handles decorated with two vertical deep thumbs forming one central ridge and two on the edges of the handle. Body decorated with some oval applied and thumbed clay. Reconstructed from sherds and some painted plaster.
