Description

Copper alloy small long brooch. Square headplate with rectangular central panel; flat semicircular top and side knobs, arms decorated with rows of small notches. Shallow arched bow with rectangular panels at either end. Foot with rectangular lappets; flared, flat terminating end decorated with transverse ridges. Pin bar lug is present and intact with the spring coil of the pin; catchplate is present and intact.

The catalogue card has the following entry: 'Left at the Fitzwilliam Museum with the note herewith - 'Property of father-in-law of Mr Tyler, Green End, Fen Ditton. Found at junction of Gilbert Road and Milton Road during sewer excavations some five years ago.' Wrote to Mr Tyler 25 April asking if he'd come in, possibility of obtaining more information from his father-in-law or visit of latter to Museum.'
