This dagger was illustrated by Sir Henry Dryden on 15 June 1843. The drawing, marked No. XVIII notes that it is from 'Jackdaw Hill near Leighton' and is in the possession 'of Mr Inskip of Shefford'. The drawing is held by the Northamptonshire Central Library, accession number DR/01/053. The dagger therefore came to the Cambridge Antiquarian Society through Thomas Inskip, who has now been added to the Source field.

Jackdaw Hill was formerly identified as being in Cambridgeshire in the Place field, but is actually in Bedfordshire. This has now been changed. Jackdaw Hill is now Linslade rail tunnel.

Description (Physical description)
Freeman description (see bib): Complete flint dagger with tip. Manufacture technique refined. Tang edges somewhat tapered, butt end flat. scaled retouch covers both faces. Lenticular in profile. Two pairs of notches along tang edges. Possibly resharpened. Very little wear, but what is present comprises some slight flaking on blade edges, polished arrises on blade faces and rounding along tang edges.
