Context (Amendments / updates)
These objects previously were only dated to the Predynastic period, and an undated note suggests that date refers only to Z 17754 A. Dr Sally-Ann Ashton examined both combs as part of the Afro Combs exhibition and dated both to c. 4,000-3,5000 BC and the Period field has been updated accordingly. Additionally, B was identified as being made of ivory, which has now been added to the Material and Description fields.
