Description
Jar; Earthenware - Globular pottery jar decorated with purple-red. Between two double lines is a sea monster of some sort holding a twig in its mouth. Perfect 1928, except for a few chips off rim. The vessel is Romano-Nubian " Blemmyan" and I doubt the inscriptions.It pobably came from Nubia and not from Thebes (signed with initials ?F.W.G 1928)

' Now Fitzwilliam Museum E.P.15' Found: On lower part of the vase is a paper on which is written " Roman Vessel from a tomb near Thebes" and in ink, probably copied from the paper " From a tomb near Thebes, Roman Period"
