In August 2014 Josh Emmitt, a PhD student at the University of Auckland, examined these sherds. As this record previously recorded no Period for the sherds, he noted: 'the sherds are all from Kom W, which is a Neolithic occupation, so middle Holocene. In terms of dates, current consensus is around 6,500-6,200 BP but that is always changing.' In accordance with Period conventions within the museum, 'Predynastic' and 'Neolithic' have both been added to the Period field, rather than Holocene.

The catalogue card for these 6 sherds originally split them into A (the 4 rim sherds) and B (the 2 base sherds). A later hand further subdivided them into A-F, and it is this which was transcribed to create this record. However, only E and F were marked with those suffixes; the four rim sherds were all marked 'A', reflecting the original suffix system. The rim sherds have therefore been assigned suffixes A-D, updated descriptions have been added, and the sherds have been marked with their suffixes.
