Context (Amendments / updates)
On closer inspection of the original label adhered to the object it appears that the 1898 accession number was overwritten, potentially by accident. The full label includes '(554)' in brackets. 1898.554 does match the description in the accession register. The accession number has been updated to reflect this and 1898.524 has been moved to the MAA Numbers field. If it transpires that the idno was amended on purpose, and an explanation as to why can be found, 1898.524 can be reinstated. Due to the change in number and inspection of the object the material is noted to be fine ceramic and so the previous Material field of Limestone has been changed

The Other number field previously stated '534' probably from the catalogue card written in the 1980s. However this number cannot be seen on the object or any labels.
