Description
Document - Two foolscap size slip cases containing mss. in Fijian vernacular with English translation. Comprised of Fijian legends, songs, folklore, etc. The cases are both marked on the outside "Stanmore", ie they belonged to Sir A. H. Gordon, Governor of Fiji Sept. 1875-Jan. 1880. However the mss. are numbered and initialled "E im T", probably Sir Everard im Thurn, Governor of Fiji June 1904-February 1911. Both cases contain typescript pt lists of mss no 1-20, Z 4155 containing mss. no-44-74. (Z 4154 is missing: a note describes its contents as having been redistributed between the other two cases but this has clearly not occurred).
