Description

Museum catalogue of Mackintosh Collection of Ancient Egyptian amulets (4th edition). Contains copy of forward to 3rd edition, chronology of Ancient Egyptian history, details of each amulet - giving material, description, sometimes the price, date and place collected, and a reference no.
The amulets are classified according to the plan in Sir W. Flinders Petrie's 'Amulets' (1914).
There are sketches of a few of the amulets.
Also lists of foundation deposits, bronzes, Ushabti, scarabs, seals, pendants and plaques, beads, figures in wood and miscellaneous items.
Also a record of purchases, giving place, date and price, and notes on certain items

(b) drawings of amulet designs, with Filnders Petrie's classification nos.
(c) lats numbers, August 31st, 1945, of various types of amulet
(d) note on method for publishing antique bronzes, signed " AG"
(e) details of price/letter code used for collection
(f) list of amulets etc. got from Laurence, 1930
(g) note, term(?) and contents of box 19/8/1937
(h) list of amulets fro Mr G. Brunton, Cairo (n.d.)
(i) list of nos. of amulets in collection, by type, to end of 1949
(j) list of amulets etc. with ref. nos. (n.d.)
(k) 13 sheets giving details on scarabs, material, and date collected (n.d.)
The collection was made firstly in Egypt in the years 1919-21, and was donated to the Museum upon the death of Leslie Mackintosh by his sister Mss R. Mackintosh

Context (Acquisition Details)
As Mackintosh's Egyptology collections were donated to the Museum in 1947 by his sister Ruth, he and Ruth have been added to the source field and a tentative acquisition date assigned to 1947.
