Papers related to the “Unlimited Global Alchemy” exhibition at MAA ((22 June – 18 August 2012) with Rachel Gadsden in partnership with members of the artist - activist Bambanani Group in South Africa, including Nondumiso Hlwele, Bongiwe Mba and Thobani Ncapai. The project was inspired by Rachel Gadsden’s visit to the ‘Assembling Bodies’ exhibition at MAA, where she saw the South African Body Maps made by women who were receiving antiretroviral treatment for HIV. The exhibition and associated events were part of the Cultural Olympiad and the Unlimited Festival at the Southbank Centre in London celebrating new work by deaf and disabled artists.
