Correspondence, notes, and drafts relating to Roslyn and Axel Poignant's trips to Aotearoa New Zealand, 1969 and Whitby.
1. One page typescript letter from Axel Poignant to John Davisson, Whitby Museum dated 29th August 1967 relating to photographing object collections associated with James Cook. Found together with 2. in plastic sleeve with adhered label reading 'scanned'.
2. One page typescript letter from Axel Poignant to Miss D. M. Walker, Whitby Museum, dated 27th September 1967 relating to Poignant's visit to the museum. On reverse is a partial draft letter from Axel Poignant to Mr H. Clegg, Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society, dated 27th September 1967 relating to Norse crosses in Cumberland. Found with 1. in plastic sleeve with adhered label reading 'scanned'.
3. Copy of a one page review of a book edited by A.M. Lysaght, Under the sign of the Lizard: Joseph Banks in Newfoundland and Labrador 1766, from the Times Literary Supplement, 3rd September 1971 with manuscript annotation.
4. Two copied pages from the catalogue of Trinity Museum with some objects crossed off in blue ink.
5. A folded leaflet 'Shopping guide to Whitby' including a map of Whitby.
6. Two printed adverts for 'conversaziones' at Whitby Museum hosted by the Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society: 'The great train robbery' and 'The romance of show jumping'.
7. Copy of The Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society annual report 1967.
8. Two printed advertisements for a public appeal for funds for Whitby’s Captain Cook Bicentenary celebrations.
9. Seven pages of manuscript notes relating to books about Māori art.
10. Three pages of typed captions relating to taonga Māori (treasures) in Auckland Museum and the former Dominion Museum, now Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington.
11. Two pages of typed and manuscript notes and sketches relating to photographs by Axel Poignant from the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand titled 'Caption material for journey through centre of North Island'. Found in plastic sleeve with adhered label reading 'scanned'.
12. Fifteen page stapled booklet titled 'Blackheath Conservation Area', dated June 1970, reused for manuscript notes relating to Aotearoa New Zealand.
13. Copy of a five page typescript essay titled 'The Story of Te Miringa Te Kakara Whare Wanaga (Caressing fragrance house of learning)' with manuscript annotations. Dated 19th May 1969.
14. Four pages of manuscript notes relating to Te Mata Peak and the book The World of the Maori by Eric Schwimmer, 1966.
15. Thirteen pages of manuscript notes relating to Taonga Māori (treasures) in several museums, including lists from Auckland Museum, the British Museum and 'Museums in Europe with N.Z. material.'
16. Three pages of manuscript notes relating to fieldwork in Aotearoa New Zealand including potential museum contacts. Some are in shorthand.
17. Three pages of manuscript notes relating to books about Māori. One page is written on the reverse of a letter from Marianne, Kia, Christopher, and Jerry to Roslyn and Axel Poignant, dated 30th November 1976.
18. Seven pages of manuscript notes relating to the UK National Maritime Museum’s exhibition on James Cook.
19. Two pages of manuscript notes relating to the Poignants' budget for fieldwork in Aotearoa New Zealand, dated 19th April 1969.
20. Two copies, one manuscript and one typescript of a piece titled 'The theme of Polynesian boy who comes to New Zealand', telling the story of Tuhoe.
21. Six pages of manuscript and typescript documents relating to Te Koroneihana (coronation) anniversary celebrations of Te Atairangikaahu at Ngāruawahia, Waikato, including words to songs and prayers and a schedule for the event.
22. One page of manuscript notes relating to taonga Māori (treasures) photographed by Axel Poignant at the Wanganui [also spelled Whanganui] Regional Museum. Found in a plastic sleeve with two prints.
23. Two newspaper clippings with manuscript annotations addressed to Roslyn and Axel Poignant by Sylvia, relating to an exhibition 'La découvert de l’Océanie' at the Museum of Mankind, Paris. One clipping includes an image of a Māori toi moko (preserved human head).
24. Newspaper clipping of a book review for the French edition of Roslyn Poignant’s book Myths and Legends of the South Seas (1970).
25. Seven newspaper clippings from around 1969 relating to social histories and politics of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

28. Three pages of manuscript letters between Rangi Dawes and Roslyn and Axel Poignant, one letter dated 27th June 1969. They relate to the Poignants' fieldwork and songs sung by Dawes at Tokomaru Bay and Ruatoria. Found in two plastic sleeves with labels reading 'scanned'.
29. Manuscript draft letter from Roslyn and Axel Poignant to Sam, dated Monday 23rd June [1969], inviting him to participate in their never - published children's book Tama's Quest. Found in plastic sleeve with adhered label reading ‘scanned’.
