Context (Analysis)
The list of coins on the note does not account for all of the coins found in the hoard, which was considerably larger (see Pearce, J.W.E. (1929). ‘Hoards or Roman Coins’. The Numismatic Chronicle. Fifth Series, Vol. 9, No. 35/36. pp. 319-327). Horace Beck once owned the hoard, but gave some or all of the coins to J.W.E. Pearce c. 1938; Beck's widow, Gundred Beck, gave the objects to MAA in 1947 and it is likely the list came with them. The author of the list is currently unknown, it is not in Beck's handwriting.
