1) Dance (meke), accompanied by an orchestra of singers done at Rakiraki, Kadavu, October 1955. Actuality record (record made during the actual performance of a normal ceremony). [0.00 - 3.40].
2) Dance known as the 'seasea' performed by women of Rakiraki village, Kadavu in Octobre 1955, with an orchestra of singers, handclapping and dance gong. Actuality record (record made during the actual performance of a normal ceremony). [3.40 - 6.09]
3) Dance accompanied by an orchestra, including a dance gong, done at Rakiraki, Kadavu, October 1955. Actuality record (record made during the actual performance of a normal ceremony). [6.09 - 8.33]
4) This is a modern song called 'Isa Lei', a song of farewell to departing guests, and it was sung on the sea coast by the Children of Richmond Methodist School, Kadavu, in October 1955 to visitors who were being brought back to their ship. This audio recording belongs to a series of 20 tapes recorded by George Kingsley Roth in Fiji in the 1950s, on Scotch Magnetic recording tapes, single track, 15min, 600 feet. The tapes record Fijian (and occasionally Tongan) songs and musical instruments and range from live recording, arranged recording and copies of recordings made by the Fiji Broadcasting Commission. The tapes were brought to MAA for safekeeping in 2001 shortly after Mrs Jane Roth's death by Mrs Sue Stobbs, her neighbour. They were digitised by the World Oral Literature Project (WOLP) in 2012 and accessioned into MAA's collection in 2013.
