Context (Acquisition Details)
A note by Anne Taylor dated to 2007 notes 'card catalogue of Egyptian material - given to Museum 1938 - by ? Museum IDNO's but we already have Museum cards.'
However it is unclear where the information is regarding when it was given to MAA - 1938 is not written anywhere that can be currently seen.

Context (Related Documents)
Those catalogue cards belonging to Mackintosh's collection detail the objects in a way to be able to match up to the object database and in some cases the accompanying information notes how and in which cabinets Mackintosh himself displayed his museum collection.

Context (Other owners)
The card catalogue box originally belonged to Leslie Mackintosh, hence the 'LM' on the label. In addition he has very distinctive handwriting and that on the box matches the other catalogue cards he produced (now in the card drawers in the Keyser office) as well as his collection catalogue, 4th edition (AR7/1/2). The adhered label on the top of the card catalogue box reads 'VOL:II' which could suggest this was either originally one of multiple such boxes or it housed the 2nd edition of his collection (and the Mackintosh cards in the Keyser may have originally been stored in this box). The addition of catalogue cards not from Leslie Mackintosh may have been due to collating found/astray/duplicates of existing cards, in the museum and putting them together, however we will not really know this. These additional cards are not linked to Mackintosh's collections and come from a range of site in Egypt through various means such as BSAE, ERS, EES, and named collectors or excavators.
As his Egyptology collections were donated to the Museum in 1947 by his sister Ruth, he and Ruth have been added to the source field and a tentative acquisition date assigned to 1947.
