Document - a) Medium black notebook, with modern label reading "G.W. Rowley re: Abverdjar Material"
Drafts of an article by Rowley on archaeology in the Canadian Arctic. It particularly focuses on the analysis of artefacts he found in the site of Abverdjar, which was located with the help of Father Bezin, who was given many artefacts by the local Eskimo from this site and who, in turn, donated them to Rowley in 1937. The article was published as "The Dorset Culture of the Eastern Arctic" in American Anthropologist, New Series, Vol. 42, No. 3, Part 1 (Jul.-Sep. 1940), pp. 490-499.
b) Tucked into the journal is a letter to Rowley from Therkel Mathiassen from the Nationalmuseet in Denmark dated 15 June, 1938. It regards a small pendant from Hall Land that was similar to those Rowley was finding in Baffin Land.
