The actual sketch was transferred from the Archives, envelope WO6/1/21 Box 193, and accessioned into the permanent collection as 2016.131 on 02/09/2016 on request of Anita Herle, Senior Curator for Anthropology. The two accompanying documents transcribed below were returned to the archives in the aforementioned envelope.

Referring to the sketch 2016.131:

‘Not used in the Cambridge Magazine, but one of a group/of sketches in similar style which were probably submitted/by W.H. Counsell and not used./Alfred Cort Haddon (Christ’s), 1855.1940 was Reader in/Ethnology from 1909-26. He published over 200 items./ Entitled on the back “All Sorts and Conditions of Men./Dr. A.C. Haddon regretting the skull has been/drained of its last gout of gore”.’
