Description

Bag or possibly a double cloth small banner for graves. Consisting of a rectangular piece sewn up at sides and top, except where the tubular neck is sewn on. All white except for one side where a pattern of eight conventionalised rays in panels is worked in red wefts. Red wool and white cotton, balanced plain weave and cotton backing; warps are Z spun and S ply and wefts are paired singles. Contains vegetable material, probably dry leaves.

Curious bag of loosely woven cotton with paired wefts, consisting of a rectangular piece sewn up at sides and top, except where the tubular neck is sewn on. All of dirty white cotton except for one side where a pattern of 8 conventionalised rays in panels is worked in pink wefts. Has 3 cotton strings at one end. Contains vegetable material, probably dry leaves.
