Description
Phytomorphic vessel shaped like a gourd with a hole in the side, made from a mould or gourd. Globular body with concave base and curved neck; edges of hole are rounded, no rim; red fabric with white slip. Cracks from side of hole.

J.H. Spottiswoode purchased his collection in the Pacasmayo region during a visit to Peru. In 1921 he gave the collection to the British Museum, who retained some of it and dispersed the rest to other museums, including MAA. See archive (Doc.564) for correspondence.
