Description (Physical description)
Brass hairpin. The object is similar to one of the two objects under the number Z 13097. As that object is from Okpe it is most likely the provenance for this object is the same. The head can be broken down in three segments. The top segment consists of ten spirals on either side of the head, which are arranged vertically along the edge. The third segment is similar with nine spirals on each side. The middle section is a diamond shape with a slit down the middle. The pin tapers into a very thin point. Information provided by Dr Ohioma Pogoson, Honorary Curator of the Museum of the Institute for African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. January 2013.
