Description
Agba. Carved wooden panel used as a seat end or chair back. The centre of the panel is cut out to leave a reptile figure with spread legs grasping either side of the panel. The spine of the animal is incised, and the rest of the surface of the panel is also carved with geometric designs. The top of the panel has a straight, cut edge with a protruding tab of wood, while the other end is broken and rough.

Agba. Carved wooden panel used as a seat end or chair back. The centre of the panel is cut out to leave a reptile figure with spread legs grasping either side of the panel. The spine of the animal is incised, and the rest of the surface of the panel is also carved with geometric designs. The top of the panel has a straight, cut edge with a protruding tab of wood, while the other end is broken and rough. The whole appears to be coated in a red pigment. There are two square holes in the panel either side of the animal's head and the sides of the panel are also decorated.
