Description
Ekwe. Slit drum carved from a hollowed-out cylinder of wood. The drum has a rectangular slit all along its length, with a rectangular lip protruding into it that can be struck to make a sound. There is a semicircular handle at one end. The wood has cracked along the length of the drum.

Slit drum made from a hollowed-out cylinder of wood. The slit is wider at both ends and narrow in the middle. There is a semicircular handle at one end. There is a narrow crack at the back which seems to have been repaired with a gritty ?resin. The drum has a severe crack in each end, a piece of the handle is missing and there is evidence of historical insect damage.
