Description
Lubugo. A rectangle of barkcloth made from two pieces of barkcloth stitched together using light coloured plantain fibre. Decorated in black pigment with two panels: one containing four rectangles filled with concentric circles, one containing four rectangles filled with crescent shaped marks; all contained within a large border filled dots. 14 patches attached using plantain fibre, and some areas of straight stitching, possibly repairs. There is also some wax coated black thread occasionally stitched along the cloth; stitching in modern cotton thread as repairs to some tears and small section of hemming on the reverse.

'One half of the design is spots inside circles, and the other half of the barkcloth is patterned with small horshoe shapes. Both halves are organised into four rectangular blocks. Context (Analysis)
There is evidence that the barkcloth has been hemmed and repaired using modern cotton thread post collection. This was possibly to adapt the barkcloth to be a part of a museum or private display.
