Caption recorded in Archive Doc OA2/4/13 (no date): Sketch of Levuka, the first capital of the Crown Colony of Fiji. Nasova, the site of the signing of the Deed of Cession in 1874, is at the extreme left of the sketch, which bears also the signatures of the first Governor, Sir Arthur Gordon, K.C.M.G., (later Lord Stanmore) and his suite. The artist was Miss C.F. Gordon Cumming.

Description (CMS Description)
Large watercolour depicting Levuka, Ovalau Island, from the sea. The colonial buildings of Nasova are visible to the right. The town is in the centre, built around the church. On the promontory (today the place of the war memorial / monument) is a building to which is attached a line onto which some isulu are drying. To the right, several buildings are built around the shore and along the hill. One seems to have a St George Cross flag floating. Notes by Constance G. C.: 'Levuka in Ovalau. Fiji. 19th Sept 1875. C.F. Gordon Cumming'; 'Nasova'; 'Castle Havelock'. Signature of residents include: Mrs & Mr De Ricci, Colonel Pratt, Stewart, W. Lake, R.E., Edmonton, Maudslay, Havelocks, Arthur Gordon, Charles Mitchell, William MacGregor, Sir Arthur Gordon, Rachel H. Gordon, Frances E. M. Hackett, W. Hackett.
