Description (CMS Description)
Small salt basket formed of a metal tin, complete with lid, encased in coconut palm leaf basketry. Underneath the tin, the basketry forms an openwork grid. The weaving is much tighter around the body of the tin. At the top, the vegetable fibre threads are gathered in a bunch and plaited in a 3-ply plait. The plait is curved down to form a loop at the top of the basket and is tied with white and red string.
