Description (CMS Description)
Flat satchel made from strips of natural, red and black-dyed pandanus leaf (voivoi). Large weave inside the basket. Finely woven on the outer surface with the following motif, from bottom to top: (a) a band of zigzag on a black and white chequerboard background (7 cm); (b) a band of red and black chequerboard pattern (5.8 cm); (c) a band of zigzags on a black and white chequerboard background; (d) A band of black woven pandanus (4 cm). The top of the satchel is decorated with a black short fringe. A loop of four thin twisted hibiscus fibre cords is attached on both sides of the satchel at the top. On one side two lengths of 3-ply plaited coir are attached to the loop. Two lengths of vegetable leaf found inside the bag.
