Description (Physical description)
Duck-shaped dish carved from a solid piece of dark vesi wood. Two large triangular projections form the wings and a small one forms the tail. A naturalistic head projects from one end of the dish. Long neck, rounded head and clearly define beak. Two circular incisions placed on either side of the head (previously inlaid?) represent the eyes. The dish sits on a small hollow square pedestal base (chipped), about 3 cm high. Some ?insect damaged on the underside of the neck and one wing and the tail. Yellow/white discolouration on the lip of the wings and tail and in the corners of the dish. Oily residue on the surface of the dish [Lucie Carreau, 03/02/2012].
