[added in pencil:] '* Na Rokoroko Yawa would be in accordance with R.G.S. spelling'. [stamped in black ink:] 'THE VON H�GEL COLLECTION CIRCA 1875'. [added in black ink:] '(centenary Exhibition)'. Description (CMS Description)
Circular yaqona dish carved from a single piece of dark vesi wood, with a pedestal base. Shallow platter, albeit deeper than most dishes of the kind. The lip is chipped in one place. Grey patina inside the platter. The dish rest on a leg formed of a short 'u' shape resting on a quadrangular platform with four cylindrical legs. The base is circular (14.5 cm diameter max.) and thin. Two lengths of 3-ply plaited coir are looped around the top of the leg and knotted three times. The surface is very scratched underneath the base.
