Description (CMS Description)
Throwing club of dark wood, I ula driwa. Ball-shaped head inlaid with three rows of very small white glass beads and two pieces of ivory (one looks human tooth-shaped). The handle is circular in section and flared towards the butt. The top of the handle is decorated with two rows of carved circular holes and a vertical line of circular holes running from the top to the centre of the handle. Most of the upper half of the handle is heavily carved with horizontal notches (possibly commemoration marks). The lower half of the handle is carved with tavatava patterns: 2 horizontal bands of zigzags, a long panel of vertical zigzags and a horizontal band of zigzags. Slightly concave butt chipped on one side and pierced with a circular hole on the other.
