Description
Flute. Open, single, side-blown flute. A small " no-kan" formed out of pipe case. Markedly elliptical cross-section, with seven finger holes along one narrow face, in two halves of approximately equal length. Distal end fits into proximal end to form case containing small bowled, metal pipe, with cloisonné enamelled stem. Proximal half of case drilled at distal end to carry swivelling, pivoted, stirrup shaped metal ring for attachment to girdle. Wood bound with fabric and strips of ?gilt wire. Case bears label: "Flute and pipe case combined KOBAYASHI 137 Mohmachi KOBE"
