Context (Analysis)
Nigel Jeffries, Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA), dates this jug to the mid- to late-17th century. It was made in Frechen, Germany as a domestic jug but the provenance and deposit suggests it was reused as a 'witch bottle'. Jeffries is part of an AHRC-funded project (AH/S002693): 'Bottles Concealed and Revealed'.
