Description (Physical description)
In shape it is of a high dome like outline with an angle, 1" above its junction with surrounding flange 1.1" wide. The boss seems to have been attached to the wooden shield with rivets and there are traces of wood on the inside of the flange and on the point of the boss. Fragile.

There is a sketch diagram on the card. The card has the following entry; "In shape this boss resembles the saxon shield bosses of later times and is not unlike that of the bronze boss from Polden Hill, Somerset (see B M Iron Age Guide 1926)".
