Context (Analysis)
A gold bracelet found by a metal detectorist in the south of Belgium has a terminal of a very similar shape to the Snailwell bracelet. It can be found on p. 112 of 'Late Iron Age Gold Hoards from the Low Countries and the Caesarian Conquest of Northern Gaul', edited by Nico Roymans et al. Eugène Warmenbol, Professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles, made this connection and will be publishing it in the near future.

See catalogue card for sketch diagram of the ornamental end of the bracelet. The card has the following entry; "There is a double rocking line as on Roman brooches and bracelets running along the crest. The animal terminals are of Celtic inspiration. The spiral form is unusual in La Tene bracelets , but may be related to the later spiral bracelets from Scottish sites e.g. Traprain Law of the Second Century A.D".
