Context (Analysis)
This may be the same mantlepiece or part of the same mantlepiece listed and illustrated in the 1913 Annual Report (AR 1913.353), which is described as a '16th century mantlepiece, finely carved in clunch (height 7', breadth 10'), removed from the house of the Veysy family which stood at the corner of Petty Cury and Market Street, Cambridge. Erected 1538, demolished 1889' and gives the same PCAS article. That mantlepiece is listed as being donated by the 'Mayor and Town Council of Cambridge', however.
